It was spectacular! I had no idea that the body could be as flexible and achieve such control .........this performance left us speechless. It was an indescribable evening! Fantastic .
Brighton 21st Nov 08 - Anne Ouplahop
Aloa.
I am no contemporary dance specialist but over the years I have seen a few things. What I saw on Tuesday (uprising and in your rooms) I found:beatutiful, brilliant, vibrant, emotional and humanistic. I loved in your rooms more because of the presence of female dancers and of what it says about human life and relationships - I loved the voice over as well which brought a counterbalance effect - a little bit like in some of woody allen's movies. The last bit with dancers also uprising and raising their fists high in the air just gave me goosebumps. So, I declare myself a fan...
Brighton Dome 18th Nov 08 - Donald Clark
The audience was packed with youngsters tonight. Just before it started there was an air of excitement and they were right to be expectant. They got a good old Brighton welcome, as audiences down here love contemporary dance.
The first piece, Uprising, with seven dancers, has echoes of hip hop and other things you’ve seen, but it is truly original. In the second piece, the musicians are lit high on the right hand side of the stage and the two percussionists, a double base, cello and viola, boomed away and bounced the whole piece forward. Always on the edge of chaos the dancers group, fragment and regroup. In your rooms is a full on power piece.
The woman sitting next to me turned out to be my ex-neighbour and her daughter was one of the female dancers. Winifred was born in Brighton and has come a long way. I told her it was OK to be proud, and she was.
Hofesh Schechter will be in residence in Brighton and boy are we glad to have them.

Last nights performance was food for the soul. Thank you for coming to Poole, i felt so fortunate to be there. When the line of dancers walked through the mist to begin i knew that i was watching something very special. Driving on the roads this morning with all the autumn leaves dancing in front of me took me straight back to parts of last night, especially the motion of falling. The first piece was as if i had no concept of time or place, in fact quite beyond words. The music coming from above the dancers was beautiful. especially the drumming .Thank you. What a treat to see such a creative team collaborate like that to produce something so beautiful.

This was a totally amazing experience which was massively enhanced by the opportunity to talk to the choreographer after the show. The warmth and enthusiasm of the Lyceum staff also enhances the experience.”

“The show was really interesting, I particularly liked the first piece. When the dancers shifted their weight when they travelled. I just really found the piece interesting and exciting to watch. Thank you!”
“The show was very inspirational. They were amazing dancers and they learnt me a lot. Very upbeat and courageous. Thank you for a good night”
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen a contemporary dance performance. I think I picked a good place to start. The percussion and the drum-led music made me feel like I was watching wild animals writhing. You lot dance from the inside out and it cut right through me. You’ve left my heart with something brilliant. I make music and I will definitely try in future to work with dance also. Ace!!”
